FAQs

WHAT CAN THE AWARDS GROUP DO FOR ME?
Quite simply, just about everything awards-related.  If it’s been a problem in the past or if you just want to
get if off your plate, The Awards Group can handle it for you.

WHAT CAN THE AWARDS GROUP DO THAT MY AWARDS COORDINATOR ISN’T CURRENTLY DOING?
It’s been our experience that most people who are dealing with awards issues are either assistants, entry-
level personnel or even interns.  The biggest problem is that these people, while well-meaning and intent
on doing a good job, are limited by their lack of knowledge of how most award processes work.  To further
complicate the problem, the turnover rate of most coordinators or assistants is typically anywhere from
six months to a year so you have to train someone all over again and hope they’re quick learners because
awards are essentially a year-round situation.

WHAT WILL THE AWARDS GROUP COST ME?
You might be surprised to learn that the monthly fee is about the same and in some cases even less than
what you’re paying your current coordinator.  If you don’t have someone at the coordinator level who is
presently dealing with awards, you’ll find that The Awards Group is very cost effective, reasonable and, at
the end of the day, very much worth the return on your investment.

WHY ARE AWARDS SO IMPORTANT TO EVERYONE?
Awards, and even nominations, for key industry awards are a validation of the high quality of your talent
and your shows.  It’s a validation of your company’s reputation as a supplier of exceptional programming.
It’s a possible bargaining chip in your next negotiation.  It’s a powerful marketing tool.  It’s powerful
ammunition for your publicity machine.  It’s critically important support data for your corporate
communications or investor relations people.  It’s to some degree, fodder for some bragging rights.  It’s all
of these things and more.

WHO ARE THE AWARDS GROUP?
The Awards Group is a team of very dedicated, very passionate and very experienced people who have
worked hands-on on most every awards campaign in the television industry.  They know which awards are
appropriate for virtually every television program on the air and they know which ones are attainable for all
genres of programming.  They know the entry processes, they know the deadlines, they know the
organizations sponsoring the awards and they know how to get your talent and shows on the ballot.

HOW MANY AWARDS ARE THERE OUT THERE?
When you think of television industry awards, you obviously think of the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the
Peabodys, the Humanitas Prize, the SAG Awards, the People’s Choice Awards, the various guild awards,
the craft awards, the ethnic awards, the niche awards and on and on.  There are actually more than 100
awards that are sought by members of the television industry.

HOW LONG WOULD A TYPICAL AWARDS CAMPAIGN TAKE?
A typical Emmy Awards submission campaign is two months.  If you’re interested in a supplemental “for
your consideration” voter campaign or a ticketing assignment or other consulting, it could be as long as
seven months.  Other awards are treated on a monthly basis but awards occur at staggered times
throughout the year.

WHAT EXACTLY IS “AWARDS SEASON”?
There are actually two awards seasons.  One is the submission “season.”  The other is the voting and
award ceremony.  Traditionally, the entry season for most awards is middle of the summer with those
awards occurring in February or March of the following year.  Emmy work begins as early as February with
entry deadlines beginning in March and ending in April.  A Golden Globe campaign could begin as early as
summertime with screenings and press conferences, culminating with nominations in December and the
awards show in January.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH AWARDS ARE MOST APPROPRIATE FOR MY TALENT AND PROGRAMS?
We at The Awards Group are ardent television viewers by nature and television aficionados by profession.
We stay current with television programming and are uniquely positioned to make smart
recommendations regarding appropriate awards opportunities.  We are quite familiar with all key industry
awards but only recommend those which are most suited for the programming in question.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE THAT MY ENTRIES WILL WIN AWARDS?
No.  No one can do that.  What we can do is get your talent and shows in the best possible contention.  The
goal is to get a nomination or to become a finalist.  As you know, final judging and voting determine
outcomes over which no one has any control.

WHO, EXACTLY, WILL BE WORKING ON MY AWARDS CAMPAIGNS AT THE AWARDS GROUP?
